From The Commanding Officers
2012
Hello Friends of the American Rescue Workers,
This year has us teetering between the extreme cold
temperatures we associate with an Ohio winter and the warm,
comfortable, sunny days that feel like spring or autumn.
The weather is absolutely unpredictable…especially with
that so-called “lake effect” that comes in from Lake Erie.
As we enter into a new year, many are finding their own
lives just as unpredictable. Economy difficulties.
Health issues. Relationship troubles. The list for
things that shake our foundations goes on and on.
As we deal with all the challenges and hurdles that
come our way in 2012 (and there are sure to be some),
let’s remain unmovable in our faith.
There may be times when our faith is tested and tried
(perhaps that’s happening right now for you), but
we stand on the solid rock of Jesus Christ, and we
know that no matter what happens in this world of ours
and in our own personal lives, God, with His constant
love and mercy is still there. Actually, the Bible tells
us that His mercies are fresh and new every day (Lamentations 3:23).
What a blessing it is to know that promise, believe in it, and stand on it!
Remember the old hymn that confirmed, “…on Christ the solid rock
I stand, all other ground is sinking sand…”? That is what we have
to remember – we don’t stand on the economy, no matter how prosperous
or poor; we don’t stand on how we feel, no matter how healthy or ill;
we don’t even stand on our relationships, as wonderful as they may
be…we stand on Him and Him alone – thank the Lord!
It’s a new year – with new challenges and new opportunities –
and new pages to be written into the chapters of our lives.
Let’s allow the Lord to fill those pages with His ways,
His will and His timing. To God be the Glory in all that we
do in 2012. May the Lord reveal Himself to you in a new way
and may you hold tighter to His hand than ever before this
year, allowing Him to go with you every step of the way.
Blessings,
Captains Victor and Deborah La Valla
