Our Ministries

The American Rescue Workers' ministries in Canton, Ohio are ongoing and relative to the community it serves. The operations have been in effect in the area since the 1920s, in Canton since the 1960s, and in the Market Avenue North community since the 1980s. The services have evolved from a soup kitchen to a men's emergency shelter to a comprehensive work therapy program that provides the basic needs and more. Over the years, the Canton Corps has been involved in many ministries, including the aforementioned as well as youth ministry, nursing home ministry and others. Currently, the American Rescue Workers' focus is on the social services provided to the residents in The Hope Shelter and The New Life Center. As a Community Church located at 923 5th Street in Canton, the American Rescue Workers provides a Sunday morning service and a Wednesday evening Bible Study. Other special activities are also offered throughout the year such as food give-aways, holiday dinners, and special religious services. With a thrift store in the area, the American Rescue Workers provides the community with affordable merchandise. As a partner with so many other agencies in the area, the American Rescue Workers works directly with other groups to provide necessary items such as furniture and appliances to those in need.
