Social Services

The American Rescue Workers in Canton provides a number of social services, but because of a strict limit of human resource power, the organization works directly with area agencies that have the ability to compile and complete the paperwork necessary to assist individuals and families in need. The American Rescue Workers then provides items to these individuals and families that have been identified and verified as in need.

Since the American Rescue Workers in Canton focuses primarily on its programs in its men's shelter and those targeted individuals and their families, the organization provides material assistance when available as a special priority to the graduates of the American Rescue Workers' programs and their families.

Social services available at the American Rescue Workers through other referrals include clothing and furniture give-away and discounts. Food and other donated products are made available and distributed when available. The organization is mindful of its resources and donated items, and therefore, the American Rescue Workers diligently seeks to share its goods when there is abundance and/or when time is of the essence. For example, large quantities of prepared foods have been donated to the American Rescue Workers from local community groups through Community Harvest; the American Rescue Workers, in turn, has redistributed them to The Salvation Army, the YWCA, the YMCA, area church groups, and other shelters in an effort to decrease waste and increase networking for the common goal of meeting needs.
